ISO 21001:2018 (Educational Organization Management Systems) is an international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization. The current version of ISO 21001:2018 was released in May 2018.

ISO 21001 provides a common management tool for organizations providing educational products and services capable of meeting learner and other customer needs and expectations.

The standard aims to help educational establishments improve quality by incorporating these concepts and objectives into their teaching and training methods.

ISO 21001:2018 can be applied to educational organizations within larger organizations whose core business is not education, such as professional training departments.

ISO 21001:2018 does not apply to organizations that only produce or manufacture educational products.

It aims to enhance satisfaction of learners, other customers, and personnel through the effective application of its EOMS, including processes for improvement of the system

ISO 21001 is a stand-alone management system standard, based on ISO 9001 (without being a sector application), and aligned with other ISO management system standards through the application of the ISO High Level Structure for management systems.

ISO 21001 is based on ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems, but it provides a specific framework for educational organizations that aim to enhance the satisfaction of their learners by improving the educational processes and ensuring conformity to learners’ requirements.
